Today the UK got its new Prime Minister as the results were announced and Mary Elizabeth Truss won the election by defeating Rishi Sunak by over 20,000 votes. As a new Leader of the Tory, Truss received 81,326 votes while Sunak got 60,399 votes. Tomorrow Boris Johnson will be bidding adieu to 10, Downing Street and will hand over the office to his successor. Queen Elizabeth will be formally appointing Elizabeth Truss as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

Liz Truss tweeted after the announcement and thanked her party colleagues for showing their trust in her and choosing her as leader of the Conservative Party.
Rishi Sunak gracefully accepted the defeat and tweeted, “It’s right we now unite behind the new PM, Liz Truss, as she steers the country through difficult times.”
Boris Johnson also congratulated Truss and tweeted, “Congratulations to @trussliz on her decisive win. I know she has the right plan to tackle the cost of living crisis, unite our party and continue the great work of uniting and levelling up our country. Now is the time for all Conservatives to get behind her 100 per cent.”
Mr Johnson further tweeted and expressed his gratitude and mentioned his government’s achievements in the last three years that including Brexit, the fastest vaccine rollout in Europe, and supporting Ukraine during the crisis. He tweeted, “I have been proud to serve as leader of the Conservative Party for the last three years, winning the biggest majority for decades, getting Brexit done, overseeing the fastest vaccine rollout in Europe and giving vital support to Ukraine.”
Former Prime Minister Mr David Cameron also congratulated Ms Truss and sent his best wishes to the new government. He tweeted, “At this time of challenge & global uncertainty, I wish the new government well.”
Former PM Ms Theresa May also congratulated Truss on her win. Ms May tweeted, “Congratulations @TrussLiz. We @Conservatives must now work together to address the challenges facing our country. Tackling the cost of living, delivering for those in need & managing the public finances responsibly. I look forward to supporting the government in that task.”
The new govt will have to face severe challenges as the UK citizens have been complaining about the taxes and price hikes. Liz Truss will have to prove herself as a strong leader who walk-the-talk and who has the capability and will to work for the improvement of the labour class and the business class equally.
